Capitalism and socialism were and still are the two sides of a coin in circulation among men in the last 150 years. The coin minted by the Enlightenment science has theorized that the "progress", defined as economic growth and consequent improvement of the material conditions of humanity. This miracle was made possible thanks to scientific and technological breakthroughs that would allow to replace the endless exploitation of natural resources exploitation of man by man, in the form of slavery. Socialism and capitalism differed only on the methods of redistribution of wealth produced by the industrial system. For both there is the origin the philosophy of the Enlightenment, which postulated the subjugation of nature to human ends. For over a century humanity and bask in the illusion that the welfare could share (in one way or another) among all men. This absurd chimera is now superbly pursued in the country where it is most visible capitalsocialismo to power: China.
The production of more wealth, far from being shared, it has had the effect of increasing the population of the human species on the planet. Today it is understood that the level of welfare as understood in the rich countries, can not be extended to all inhabitants of the earth. It also begins understand that the current level of consumption (and therefore exploitation of resources and pollution), despite the inequality is not sustainable by the planet, which is giving us clear signs of deterioration of its balance.
More and more public figures and ordinary citizens feel these concerns, however, can not get to the heart of the problem, which is given by the insane proliferation of the human species by altering the balance multi millennial occurred in little more than a century. This huge mass of people daily needs of food and water, medicines and transport, clothing and education. And everywhere they are, the vast majority of them aspires to lead a better, without more consumption. To meet these needs is being given to an assault on all available resources on the planet, this rate of depletion and pollution, will not last long.
do not need to remember the details of the environmental catastrophe in progress, now accepted by all scientists. Instead we must be aware of the real problem: the number of humans on earth, their consumption and their future expectations.
should be from a sustainable level of exploitation of all natural resources (water, arable land, forests, oceans, minerals, fossil fuels, etc), to obtain the number of humans who can benefit from taking into account that the number varies depending on the per capita consumption, which is the maximum level tolerated by the population of the planet is obtained by taking the least possible consumption per capita (corresponding to the basic needs).
In other words, assuming a major change in lifestyle, maximum recycling capacity, optimization of production facilities and the best possible energy savings, the earth could not long endure a population of one billion people whose Per capita consumption is equal to the current average in the U.S.. Perhaps we can put up to 3 to 5 billion people with per capita consumption equal to that of Mongolia. In any case we are too well and I suppose that nobody wants to give up their level well-being. So: happy birthday!
