The third world war
I have no doubt that humanity is on the eve of the third world war. Too optimistic to think that the war has been banished, at least in its most advanced and devastating as those implemented during the two wars fought on a global scale. The generations who lived through those conflicts are inexorably disappearing and the new humanity has knowledge only indirectly (books, films, documentaries, etc.)..
For over half a century "balance of terror", or the fear of mutual destruction between the American empire and the Soviet empire, has ensured relative peace, although interspersed with numerous local conflicts, some of them of great atrocities and Duration:

unlikely attempt to control militarily the planet by the only empire left, the device is engaging the world's most powerful military on fronts and increasing its cost the U.S. is doing astronomical drowning in a sea of \u200b\u200bdebt, nonostatnte effort to involve more and more countries allies vassals in all scenarios of war in the world and to drain their capital.
With the impending attack on Iran is very likely to cause the collapse of the empire, already glimpsed by those emerging powers who seek to divide the spoils. The oil, which has passed $ 100 per barrel (an unequivocal sign of the future consumption overtaking production) requires the U.S. capitalism (the vortex development is based on the abundance of cheap oil), control of major oil reserves, to the detriment of emerging powers (China, Europe, India).
The world is arming at a rate of 1.2 trillion dollars a year. For comparison, consider that military spending for the first world war are estimated between 1400 and 2500 billion dollars (1998), while those for the second world war, they are estimated at 6000 billion dollars (one trillion, or the 'year).
The collapse of the trigger all the dormant or repressed tensions in every corner of the planet, giving way to a generalized conflict of unimaginable scope.
As an Italian citizen asked me about what should be the position of my country to the occurrence of this catastrophic event. It is worth remembering the historical precedent: the outbreak of World War I Italy remained neutral for a year, while the government was secretly with the belligerent powers of the counterpart to our entry into the war, in spite of public opinion and parliament , clearly against the war. At the end of VE and S. Orlando Sonnino accords with France and England, winning bidders on the map, dragging the country into a long and bloody conflict, even if victorious, but the agreements were not respected and confidentiality that agreement, bargained without the knowledge of Italian, was rejected. The "mutilated victory" by fostering the emergence of fascism. Even the outbreak of World War II we held (ie, Mussolini, saw that there was a dictatorship) "belliggeranti not." The captain was convinced of a quick victory of the Third Reich, and went to war a year later, declaring that he would need a few thousand dead Italian to sit at the peace table. We know how it ended. Just think if the star of Mussolini had been ousted by that of Italo Balbo, on his return from his transatlantic business. The alliance with Germany there would have been, the racial laws were not enacted, Enrico Fermi and others like him would not have left Italy, which would remain neutral and strong. The war would be over a year ago and we would have been the locomotive of European reconstruction, among the first to acquire super-powers of atomic power. No foreign country could build military bases on Italian soil. I believe that even nostalgic for fascism, if intellectually honest, must recognize the dramatic consequences of the choices of the leader.
Building on previous experience, I think there has ever agreed to enter into the conflict merely opportunistic calculation. Wars should be fought only if unavoidable, ovverossia for defense, and this sense, the device should be maintained strong and effective military to deter any aggressor, not excluding even nuclear deterrence.
